Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
